Picture of the week!

I know I've been slacking on my posting. I'm in full knit fever(boy does it feel good!) so I haven't been really at the computer much. Hopefully you didn't feel neglected without my daily observations to brighten your day. This picture was taken at a rest area on our way back to Ohio. My sister-in-law and I had just snagged a whole bunch of fireworks on our last gas stop and we were coming into the home stretch part of our drive(how's that for a run on!). We made it home safely! and I'll be enjoying the fireworks soon-hopefully this weekend if it doesn't rain.!

The way I see it!

Well Good News!

I'm still employed!!! Yeah!!! and the kicker is all of my co workers survived the library funding crisis! I'm so happy to have a job and also to be able to do a job that I like doing! Well enough about that-the title of this post is actually the newest album put out by Raphael Saadiq. I've always loved Toni,Tony,Tone ever sinces they came out with "Hey Little Walter" and who can forget "It feels Good" or "My ex-girlfriend is a Ho!" or "It never rains in southern california". The list goes on and on. This solo effort is so fun! He took me straight to motown on this one. Songs like 100 yard dash,keep marching on,and sure hope you mean it just made me think of 60's era music. I found myself trying out all kinds of dance moves. I even fit some of my line dances into the songs. I waited so longgggg to get this album from the library. It was so worth the wait. If you like motown or just good music in general I'd suggest trying out the way I see it.

Gee it's great to be back home!

Well that's a little stretch actually. I had a great time. I did what most cruiser's do. I ate all kinds of weird food( I had a cinnamon pumpkin,squash and yam with cheddar cheese pot pie)It was so good. They even had someone making fresh sushi so I enjoyed that as well. I also learned how to dance disco style,country line dance,and hip hop. It was a blast! I got to show Carolyn how do to the hip hop dance moves. If you can picture it here's this lady in her early 60's doing hip hop moves with me. She was excellent! My niece and nephew were waiting for the elevator so we started doing the moves. Our dance instructor saw us and started dancing with us! I shared my stateroom with my niece and my cousin's daughter-it went okay. Mostly they went to a teen hangout spot they had on board and I went where ever I wanted to go. I went to the gym of course and also to the sauna and the steam room-they have the most beautiful restrooms up there. I'll put in the pictures so you can see.
I enjoyed the shows and even got to dance with the dancers a couple times-not on stage but actually during the parties that they had. I loved this cruise. I had two cab drivers in Cozumel. First there was Victor who had very light blue eyes-kind of shocking. And then Omar who took my attempts at speaking the language in stride. I went on a sub ocean view voyage and saw wonderful coral reefs.
The only thing I didn't get to do was sing karaoke:( but oh well you can't do everything on the cruise. Favourite phrase "Grown up Girl Super Powers" given to me by my nephew. He told me that he could use his little boy super powers to cut throw a long line at dinner. I told him that I was a girl and didn't have little boy super powers. "That's okay" he said " You can use your Grown up Girl Super Powers!:)
Best time had to be in Key West. My niece and I rented bikes and rode around Key West. Only downer was getting caught in a torrential down power when we took the bikes back to the rental place.

Sail Away

Just a quick post. These last few weeks have been complicated for me. Not only was I waiting to see if I would still have a job-I was commuting in a rental car because my two year old car had bad fuel injectors. So they replaced all 4 injectors and found that i had a bad valve that was misfiring. They fixed that and found that one of the cylinders was totally bad. They fixed that and I got the pleasure of driving home on Friday night ,dropping off the rental car, picking up my car,showing my mother how to crop photo's in the our paint program,then picking up my cousin's daughter and driving back to Columbus to sleep for 4 hours and start my drive to Florida. Did I mention that I was going on a cruise!. I am blogging from an embassy suite hotel. Just word about Embassy-they have the best workout facility that I've ever had the pleasure to use in a hotel. Not only did they have my elliptical machine and treadmills, they had medicine balls and balance balls and free weights and awesome pulley system. They also have the best continental breakfast. I just had a spinach an onion omelet-delicious! I'll be heading to Miami today! Then tomorrow it's off to Cozumel Mexico and then to key west Florida. Bonn voyage and all that jazz!

I just finished my walk outside. I committed to walking around my block seven times-kind of like the Israelites marching around the walls of Jericho. Here are some songs that helped me make it through these seven rounds.

Stryper- He is the reason for the season. The beat is perfect for walking-it's takes your mind off the next 6 circuits.


Sister Sledge - He's the greatest Dancer. This song take me back to leg warmers and jordache jeans and roller skates.

The Afters-Never going back to okay. This is my not settling song, my push through and get through those last 2 circuits.

up up and away

This weekend I did something I've always wanted to do. Ashland has a hot air balloon festival every year. This year I went and boy was it beautiful. There were 27 hot air balloons. I was only able to catch a few pictures of them. At night they do something called the "All Glow" which of course means they light up. The balloons were from all over the Midwest.


I went back to the festival with my niece the next day and we took a tethered balloon ride. Here's the view from inside basket.

It was a wonderful ride. You don't even feel like your moving and suddenly your leaving the ground. I loved it!

Defying Gravity

Most of the time when a music artist is in love or recently married their music goes off the rails. Keith Urban never had that problem. I've loved his music ever since he came out with "Golden Road". Golden Road fed my road weary soul with good guitar rifts and foot stomping music. I would find myself singing loudly as I raced down the highway to the 'Stone. He followed it up with "Be Here" which set all my girlish fantasies of a happily ever after in flight with the song "Making memories of Us" and "Better Half". I know it's corny but I'm absolute sucker for good lyrics. Then came "Love Pain and the whole crazy thing" Which had hits like "Once in a lifetime" which is a song about taking a chance at love. Defying Gravity had me hitting high notes right along Keith in "Right in front of you" and "Whys if feel so long". But the kicker really is "Thank You" which is like a love song I imagine he wrote for his wife. Even if you don't like country,you can't deny his talent.
